Shea butter has many uses: From cooking, to confectionary and obviously for various health preparations and skin treatment.

Here a few ways that you can tailor make skin products that would normally cost you a small fortune.

Making a Shea Butter moisturizer.

My favorite moisturizer is a combination of raw Shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil and a few essential oils like tea tree and peppermint. All of these ingredients are natural and can be found in a local health food store. In less than 5 minutes you can have a custom moisturizer made especially for your hair or body.

In a medium bowl use your mixer to whip 1 cup of raw shea butter. Once your shea butter is nice and fluffy add a few tables spoons of coconut and jojoba oil (I just eye ball it but start with 2-3 each). Continue whipping. Finish it off with a few drops of your favorite essential oils (15- 20 drops). If you want something really fragrant try lavender or lemon. Store it in a jar with a lid.

This is really simple and you can adjust the amount of oil based on your hair needs. I use this on my freshly washed hair paying special attention to my ends. You can use this as a daily moisturizer as well just make sure you clarify your hair every so often to prevent build up….More at DIY Whipped Shea Butter Moisturizer – The Sparkle Collective
